What "film" are you watching?

Imagine if someone collected film on Derek Jeter's performance while playing short stop for the New York Yankees.  Except this film contained only images of moments when Derek struck out, grounded into a double-play, popped up or made an error on the field.  Suppose someone who knows nothing about Derek Jeter were to watch just this film.  What impression would be made? 

Even a baseball player that performs at the caliber of Derek Jeter (future hall of famer, all star, all time Yankee hit leader and world champion) strikes out once in a while. 

Someone on my sales staff recently asked me how I stay so focused all of the time.  He also asked, " Doesn’t it bother you when you have a bad day or you lose a sale to the competition?"  My answer was this:  I’ve decided which film I’m going to watch."

I’m going to start my day by visualizing great outcomes on all my sales calls.  Then I’m going to treat each person that gives me a "no", as just one more person closer to one that gives me a "yes".
