At my regular Thursday morning B.N.I. (Business Network International) meeting this week, one of the members had a great story that he relayed to everyone. He recently returned from a trip to San Francisco, where he visited Golden Gate Park on a Sunday. The park was busy with people from all walks of life, like joggers, picnicking families, etc. A group of singers were playing bongo drums. A drunk, homeless man created quite a disturbance when he approached the group and began to bang on a garbage can. What do you think happened next?
In San Francisco the group welcomed the inebriated homeless man into their song. They gave him a drum and allowed him to bang along while they played their music. Take a moment to put yourself in the shoes of these bongo drummers. Would you be open and accepting of the homeless man? Would you invite them into your world and let them participate? In our sales career, are we truly that opened-minded when we meet different people?
If we can be that accepting of others, like those bongo players, we can help anyone in any aspect of life.
