"Problems" can create opportunities that may not have existed previously. I placed the word problem in quotation marks for a reason. I was taught a very long time ago that if we replace the word "problem" in our day to day vocabulary with the word "challenge", then we can change our way of thinking. Problems are trouble with which we associate negative things. A challenge on the other hand is something we can overcome. Being "up for the challenge" is much more positive than "dealing with a problem", isn't it?
No matter how successful sales people or business people we are, there will always be one client with whom things don't go so smoothly. No matter how positive our approach, we are human beings working with other human beings and mistakes are sometimes made. The way we handle our mistakes is our opportunity to shine and rise above.
Most people will understand human error, especially if we have a great reputation, own up to it and od the right thing to make the client happy. I've found in my experience that handling things in this manner creates my best referrals and testimonials. Use the exisiting client (with permission) as a reference for the support and follow-through that a new client can expect when they deal with you. Don't run from those "problems", rise up to the "challenges" and overcome them for everyone's benefit.
